Shalimar King of Sweets & Restaurant

So I’ve been a LONG TIME customer of this restaurant since 2006 back when there used to be Shalimar Food Land next door. Since then, they’ve merged and become one. And just recently they really renovated the restaurant and dining room. The ambiance was very nice and the staff are generally nice. Very busy nights which is good. While the food was generally quite good such as the Gobi Manchurian, the goat korma, cheese kebab, and palak paneer could’ve been better. Again I used to come here a lot and prior to the renovation, they used to have a very good goat korma and chicken cheese kebab. The goat korma definitely became more “light” while the chicken cheese kebab tasted a bit dry. The palak paneer tasted a little old. I feel like while the restaurant in general is very nice and welcoming, the food quality has gone a bit down. Overall, the restaurant experience was nice, and while it was generally good to eat here with family and friends after many years, I feel like the food could definitely improve a bit. Again, it’s quite good, but I feel like some dishes like the goat korma, definitely used to be more rich in flavor back in the day. I still recommend eating here though since they also now have a buffet and all. Definitely will come here again sometime! :)

I truly enjoy the atmosphere here; it feels just like a fine dining experience. The food is delicious, well-cooked, and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spices. The portions are generously sized, enough to satisfy your appetite. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I want to especially mention Reem, who provided us with excellent service.

We’ve been to Shalimar many times, and during our recent visit with friends, we ordered the lamb chops — they were good, but nothing different from the usual. We also tried the mixed platter with lamb boti, seekh kebab, and bihari kebab. Unfortunately, the bihari kebab was too salty, and the seekh kebab was almost burnt, though the lamb chops in the platter were fine. The chicken wings with fries were tasty, but the butter chicken was disappointing — the chicken pieces were too large, and the masala lacked flavor. The service was good, but overall, the food was just average.

We had such a great experience at Shalimar Restaurant! The food was fresh, flavorful, and honestly some of the best I’ve had in a long time. The place was clean, welcoming, and the service was amazing. Amazing management team, my son was given a complimentary meal including a burger and fries. A special shoutout to Abdul Khan, he was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive the entire time. He made sure everything was perfect and checked in without being overbearing. Definitely will be coming back! Awesome renovation.

My family and I have been coming to Shalimar for many years and we love their food. We love their lamb chops, butter chicken and chicken kebab. Their service is also great, Adeel was our last server and he did amazing. They recently had a store makeover and it looks beautiful & bright!

We always have a great experience at Shalimar Restaurant! Our server Abdul is amazing — he’s always kind, attentive, and makes every visit special. Each time we come, he recommends the best dishes from the menu, and he never misses! Today he treated us to a new dessert planned for next month’s menu — the Toffee Cake — and it was honestly the best cake ever! Super flavorful, rich, and absolutely hit the spot. Highly recommend both the restaurant and Abdul’s service!

I don’t know how to describe in words how amazing Shalimar’s food is but it is the BEST Desi food I’ve had all my life living in the US. My husband and I were in NJ for a work trip and we decided to check out Shalimar for Saturday lunch. I have visited this spot (10+) yearssss ago so I was impressed with the restaurants updated interior. It was beautiful and the service was top notch. Best of all… the food was like a dream. My husband and I still think about the food because that’s how GOOD it is!!! Lamb chops - 10/10, I am not a lamb girly and I kept asking for more. It is marinated so well with desi masala’s and then cooked so tenderly and juicy. Please order this, it’s their signature dish! Chicken Gola Kabob - 10/10, so tender and flavorful! The meat was breaking so gently and I was in love. Butter Chicken - 10/10, creamy and classic. The chicken had great flavor and the sauce was thick and seasoned well, with a hint of sweetness. We enjoyed all of it! Mithai/Methai - Their sweet assortment is a diabetics dream. I ordered some for myself (enjoyed everything) and then ordered some to take home for family. Made so fresh and with high quality ingredients.
